Program Overview

Overview: Mr. Herb Crosby was a dedicated, educated leader who was committed to educating and providing leadership within the communities he served. He consistently demonstrated this commitment by willingly assisting anyone interested in enhancing their learning. The Chamber is continuing his legacy by offering scholarships in his name for New Mexico Black High School Seniors. We are offering two types of scholarships; one for those interested in pursuing a trade, certificate, or degree program within New Mexico or for attendance at a Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU). 

About the Scholarship

The value of the scholarship is valued up to $2,500 for higher education within New Mexico and up to $4,000 for attendance at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The scholarship will be presented directly to your school of choice to be deposited into your student account.

General Applicant Eligibility

Self-identify as Black 

Graduating High School Senior from a New Mexico High School 

Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA

Basic Application Information

1. Complete basic demographic information 

2. Complete a short essay (500 words) 

3. One letter of recommendation

Additional Considerations (Apply Between April 1 and June 6 2025)

Top candidates must complete an interview with the scholarship committee prior to final selection of recipients. 

Scholarship recipients will be eligible for one-half of the designated scholarship award for the fall semester and the other half will be provided once the recipient has completed their first semester, meets with the scholarship committee to provide an update on their experience, and maintains at least a 2.5 GPA.
